After a long hiatus from the bike after college, I found myself starting from scratch all over again. You know that old saying about riding a bike? It’s mostly true. When I resumed, I couldn’t find a community that felt welcoming to someone as inexperienced as me. Everything seemed like it was for the “serious” riders, which wasn’t what I considered myself then, and isn’t what I consider myself now. My approach to cycling and and to Prairie Bloom was to treat it as casually as I can, whilst sharing whatever knowledge I pick up along the way.

The idea of Prairie Bloom came about after spectating my first ever bike race! I was hooked. I quickly got to work, and with the help of some friends, this community got started.

I spent four years of my life pouring so much heart and time into Prairie Bloom. First with the cycling club, then with the race team, and lastly with the gravel race. We did some cool things in our community and impacted lots of women along the way (classes, rides, friendships, you name it!).

But it was a lot of work, so at the ned of 2024 I decided to sunset this passion project (well, except for the gravel race, that’s still going for at least another year).

So so so grateful to every person who joined our rides, our classes, events, meetups, to anyone who volunteered, sponsored, gave their time freely, or anyone who sent kind words and support our way. Probably wouldn’t have lasted a year without you all.

About me: I’m a proud native of Mexico, a place that fostered my love for the outdoors. Whether it’s running, hiking, cycling, backpacking, etc. If it’s outside, I’ll probably like it. I’m a creative at heart, a former designer, and now full-time photographer. I’m married to my best friend, James, and together we have four weird rescue cats.

Born in the prairies.

Ok, so the above statement is a bit of a hyperbole. Omaha is not exactly a prairie these days, but it used to be.

A prairie in full bloom is a sight to behold, a compilation of flowers and native grasses, each serving its own distinct purpose. Our name is a true representation of the individuals that make up the club.
